বন্ধু – The Friend

A Bengali New Short Film that shares building up friendship or relationship with friend’s wife and maintaining good relation with his daughter. It was always Pupu and her father Aditya as long as anyone could remember. Her mother had died when she was younger and the only faint memories she had of her was of vanity mirrors and lipsticks. She couldn’t recollect a mother-daughter bond even if she tried. One day her father received a Facebook friend request, from an old family friend or aunty Sucheta. The families had lost touch but social media has the power to bring people closer, renew friendships, to make new friends or relation. As days turned to weeks and weeks to months, Pupu could see how happy aunty Sucheta made her father. Aunty Sucheta had divorced her philandering husband and even though Aditya failed to see clearly, Pupu saw how much of joy she brought to the duo’s lives. One day, out of the blue, she accepts her fathers relation with Aunty and said: “Baba, I would love if aunty Sucheta became your special friend.” Longing for a mother figure and friend, Pupu had finally found what she had been waiting for.
